Our Legacy in Design & Innovation
Principal & Founding Architect Dady Banaji (B.A., B.Arch, Stanford University, USA) established Banaji & Associates in 1960 in Bombay (India) as an innovative and integrated design practice. His vision was to craft spaces that seamlessly blend functionality, aesthetics, and individuality, creating environments that stand the test of time.
The firm gained international recognition in 1981 with the launch of its Design Studio in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, further cementing its reputation for excellence.
Dady Banaji believed that great design is a reflection of life itself—harmonizing with people’s lifestyles while adding depth, elegance, and inspiration to their surroundings. His enduring philosophy continues to shape Banaji & Associates, defining a legacy of design excellence that resonates across generations.

Jamshed Banaji
Jamshed Banaji has spent over 25 years making rigorously simple architecture that speaks of the fundamentals absorbed during his formation years in the university. He established Zaar Line in 1999, a build company which can translate his design into reality. He believes “it’s impossible to go through a single day without encountering architecture”, The built environment is entwined with every facet of our lives – from our work to our homes, hobbies and social lives.
Nirmala Banaji
Nirmala Banaji the principal of Banaji & Associates is an accomplished architect with a textile design and a Business Management Degree, who has long ploughed her own furrow, through a compelling mix of hard work and boldness of vision. She combines her knowledge of textile design and business management to create thoughtful and seamless processes culminating in signature aesthetics for every design, which can be described as understated elegance, modern and proportionate. Her consistency of care and integrity in all her endeavors and projects are upheld throughout the entire process of design to completion.

Jamshed Banaji – Architect, Innovator & Mentor
Jamshed Banaji brings a global perspective to architecture, combining design excellence, innovation, and integrity. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, USA, he developed a deep appreciation for architecture as an integral part of life.
In 1994, he joined Banaji & Associates, the firm established by his father in 1960, gaining extensive exposure to international codes and standards through its operations in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. Today, he leads the firm’s new-age vision alongside Architect Nirmala Banaji, steering it towards a global strategy rooted in care, flexibility, and innovation.

Jamshed believes that architecture is more than form—it’s about impact. His approach is dynamic, adapting to the evolving needs of business and society. Passionate about mentorship, he enjoys guiding young architects and assembling the right teams to meet each client’s unique vision.
Nirmala Banaji – Visionary in Design & Leadership
With a passion for transforming concepts into timeless spaces, Nirmala Banaji embodies the design excellence and integrity that define Banaji & Associates. A graduate of L.S. Raheja School of Architecture, Mumbai.
Her professional journey spans esteemed firms like Somaya & Kalappa Architects and Akbar Biwiji’s design studio, where she swiftly rose to Associate Architect, spearheading independent projects. In 1998, she brought her fresh perspective and rich expertise to Banaji & Associates, carrying forward the legacy of its founder, Architect Dady K. Banaji. Today, alongside Architect Jamshed Banaji , she helps drive the firm’s global vision, blending innovation, functionality, and refined aesthetics.

Her approach is deeply client-centric, ensuring every space reflects the client’s aspirations and individuality. Specializing in hi end residential interiors and restoration projects, she continues to push boundaries with her innovative yet timeless design sensibility.
Ar. Bharati Rananavare
Bharati Rananavare (aka Shama) has been associated with B&A since 1986 and currently leads the firm’s Interior Design division. With over 35 years of experience in the design and execution of large-scale commercial projects, she has played a key role in shaping several of B&A’s landmark projects. Her portfolio includes esteemed clients such as Everest Food Products Limited, Kohinoor Televideo, Dräger India Pvt. Ltd., and Blue Water Restaurants. Bharati is a registered architect and an alumna of L. S. Raheja School of Architecture.
Ar. Archana Sarangdar
Archana Sarangdar joined Banaji & Associates in 2009 as a Senior Architect and currently serves as the Head of Architectural Design. With over 25 years of experience, she has worked on the firm’s landmark residential and commercial projects. Prior to joining B&A, Archana had hands on experience being associated with Patki & Dadarkar, Nitin Parulekar, gaining valuable insights across various architectural domains.
Few of the distinguished residential developments such as Jeevan Jyoti, Fair Heaven, Indrayani, Safalya, and Aneesh Silverline, along with commercial projects like Evio Pvt. Ltd. A registered architect, Archana is an alumnus of L. S. Raheja School of Architecture, Mumbai.
