How to use it

Four steps.

  1. Add your spaces. One row per room. Pick the type and enter the carpet area in square feet — approximate is fine.
  2. Read the quantities, not just the money. The middle column is what you are actually buying: square feet of flooring, running feet of counter, number of electrical points. That is what a contractor quotes against.
  3. Compare quotes line by line. When a quote arrives, check it item by item against this. A quote that is missing waterproofing or counts half the electrical points is not cheaper, it is incomplete.
  4. Print it and take it to site. The print view drops the navigation and gives you a clean document.

What this is not. These are indicative order-of-magnitude ranges to help you sanity-check a quotation — not a quotation themselves. Real rates move with city, specification, brand and site access. Use it to spot what is missing from a quote and where a number looks wrong.
