One ceiling light is not a lighting plan
Rooms need layers: something to see by, something to work by, something to look at.

The default Indian ceiling fixture puts a lot of light directly downwards from the middle of the room. It is efficient and it is unflattering, and it makes every room look the same at every hour. A room that feels good in the evening is almost always doing three things at once.
Ambient light fills the room and can be indirect — a cove, wall washers, or simply a well-placed pendant with a diffuser. Task light goes where work happens: over a counter, beside a reading chair, in front of a mirror at face height rather than above it. Accent light gives the eye somewhere to rest — a picture, a plant, a textured wall.
Colour temperature does more for atmosphere than fixture design. Around 2700K to 3000K reads as warm and domestic; 4000K and above reads as an office and will make a beautifully specified room feel like a clinic. Keep it consistent within a space.
Put everything on separate circuits and dim what you can. The single cheapest upgrade in most homes is not new fixtures, it is the ability to turn half of them off.
